ĐÔN+ means Stool in Vietnamese) is an experimental collection introduced by LAITA. The collection consists of various chair designs, sharing the same classic seat. The only rule is to create a new design by adding one element to a basic chair. No boundaries, we just let our creativity to take control. A simple chair was transformed into different shapes unexpectedly. This collection conveys our design ideal and also how our creative works are formed. During the exhibition, each visitor can be a designer as well. Following the same rule, they can freely design their own chair.

The idea of this collection came up when we studied Follia chair by Giuseppe Terragni – a design well ahead of its time by one of the pioneers of the Italian modern movement. The Follia chair features a simple seat and back with 18/8 stainless steel backrest support springs. The separation of the back from the seat makes the chair a design innovation of its time yet a classic in any era. Terragni did prove how basic components can be combined to create a masterpiece. Using the same seat as the Follia chair, each of our team member experimented our learnings and designed our own “Follia” chairs. The ĐÔN+ collection was then born…
