Architecture of the Ground.

This is a temporary performance space, a platform of about 2500 m2, quickly assembled right at the entrance to the lobby of the Palace of Independence. In this seemingly unusual location, it is possible to exploit the true beauty of the view overlooking the whole of Le Duan Street, supported by the space of 30/4 Park, the palace fence, the wonderful setback of the lawn – the fountain and the cool & dry December afternoon in Saigon. The architecture of the ground can also be seen as a flat surface extending outwards from the Palace lobby, which is essentially a large veranda. This platform is also a structure raised above the ground (4.2 m) to redefine the function of the existing steps and ramps. In other words, it “negotiates” with the ground in order to be “moulded” into a completely new programme of activities in a short space of time. 2 ramps are recreated in a different way of use, with the possibility of opening and closing (by pneumatic piston) before and after the performance, serving to connect with the backstage area of almost 400 m2 directly below. A truly curious and surprising runway, which nevertheless guarantees simplicity and absolute visibility for the audience.
